RECENT DEATHS

Dennis Harold Burtchell, 67, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Nov. 1, 2014 at home. He was the husband of Patricia Namerow. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran. He also leaves behind three children and seven grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday, Nov. 6, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home. His funeral service and burial with military honors will be Nov. 8 at Buckingham Congregational Church, Glastonbury, Conn.

Russell H. Chandler Jr., 97, of Portsmouth, passed away Oct. 28, 2014 at Warren Skilled Nursing Center, Warren, R.I. He was the husband of the late Pearl (Hyslop) Chandler. He leaves behind a daughter, Patricia Winthrop of Portsmouth, and a grandson. His funeral was held at St. Anthony’s Church, Portsmouth. Marilyn C. Drape, 92, of Portsmouth, passed away Nov. 1, 2014 at home. She was the wife of the late Gardner Shove Drape. She served as a W.A.C. in the U.S. Army during World War II. She leaves behind two daughters, Marsha Lynn Ollerhead and Marlene Elizabeth Drape, both of Portsmouth, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Florinda C. (Correia) Faria, 89, of Portsmouth, passed away Oct. 25, 2014 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph S. Faria, Jr. She leaves behind a daughter, Francesca A. Faria. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. at Jesus Saviour Church. Barbara Gordon-Ball, 78, formerly of Middletown, passed away Oct. 31, 2014 at a Westerly rest home. She was the wife of the late Rev. Calvin P. Gordon of Evangelical Friends Church and later, the wife of Richard Ball. She also leaves behind three sons and six grandchildren. Donations in her memory may be made to World Vision, P.O. Patrick Curran Loftus, 30, of Newport, passed away unexpectedly Oct. 29, 2014. He leaves behind his parents, Garrett and Kathleen (Toracinta) Loftus, and his twin brother and sister. Frederick Anthony Palkovic, 87, of Portsmouth, passed away Oct. 29, 2014 at St. Clare Home in Newport. He was the husband of the late Margaret Katherine (Mc- Carthy) Palkovic. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He leaves behind four children and eight grandchildren. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church, Portsmouth.
