Children’s Halloween Party

Emmanuel Church will host a community children’s Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4-6 p.m. The party will be held in the church library at 42 Dearborn St. Costumes are encouraged and all are welcome. For more information, call 401-847-0675.

St. Peter’s ‘Trunk or Treat’

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will have a “Trunk or Treat” Halloween event after church on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 11-11:30 a.m. Members are invited to wear costumes and decorate their cars and fill the trunks with candy. All youngsters are welcome to dress in costumes (or just stop by) and go from car trunk to car trunk for some Halloween treats. For more information, call 401-846-9567.

Open Meditation Group

A new open meditation group will begin meeting on Wednesdays at Calvary United Methodist Church starting Oct. 29, from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. Chairs are provided, if you prefer to sit on the floor, bring a cushion. Calvary United Methodist Church is at 200 Turner Road, Middletown, across from Gaudet Middle School.

UCC Book Group

“If the Church Were Christian; Rediscovering the Values of Jesus” by Philip Gulley is being discussed by the book group at United Congregational Church. Gulley, a Quaker pastor and author, explores how the church has lost its way. Discussions will be Tuesday, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4 at 10:30 a.m. For information call the church office at 401-849- 5444.

Pasta for Praise

The Ministry of Music at the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church is holding “Pasta Praise,” a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 2-6 p.m. A full dinner of spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce will be accompanied by broccoli and garlic bread topped off with strawberry shortcake. Tickets to attend are $8. The church is located at 33 Van Zandt Ave. For more information, call 401-864-2154.
