Newport Police Log

During the period from Monday, Oct. 6 , to Sunday, Oct. 12, the Newport Police Department responded to 692 calls. Of those, 146 were motor vehicle related; there were 104 motor vehicle violations issued, and 42 accident reports.

The police also responded to 19 noise complaints, 11 animal complaints, 42 home/business alarm calls, 3 private tows, 1 suicide call, 1 liquor establishment violation and 11 incidents of vandalism. They transported 7 prisoners, escorted 2 funerals and had 22 school security checks.

They recorded 9 instances of assisting other police departments and 4 instances of assisting other agencies.

In addition, 48 arrests were
made for the following violations: n 8 arrests were made for bench
warrants.
n 2 arrests were made for obstructing a police officer in the
line of duty.
n 13 arrests were made for disorderly conduct.
n2 arrests was made for driving
without a license or expired.
n 1 arrest was made for larceny.
n 1 arrest was made for possession of narcotics.
n 1 arrest was made for willful
trespassing.
n 1 arrest was made for obtaining money under false pretenses
n 1 arrest was made for simple
assault.
n 1 arrest was made for public
urination.
n 1 arrest was made for failure to
register as a sex offender
n 1 arrest was made for 1st
degree sexual assault.
n 2 arrests ere made public
urination.
n 2 arrests were made for driving with a suspended or revoked
license.
n 3 arrests were made for DUI.
n 1 arrest was made for leaving
the scene of a collison.
n 1 arrest was made for failing to
restrain an animal.
n 1 arrest was made for an open
container.
