Bathhouse Rebuilding

Although beach season is only a glimpse in the rear view mirror, construction recently began at Easton’s Beach to rebuild the bathhouse building destroyed by fire in May. The decision was made right after the fire, which occurred just before opening day, to do whatever was required to get the popular beachfront complex up and running as expeditiously as possible, and trailers were brought in for the summer to provide shower and restroom facilities. Due to quick action by the fire department, the damage was limited to the one building, which was a complete loss. The complex, prone to natural disasters like Hurricane Sandy but rarely impacted by man-made incidents, opened as scheduled, to the delight of beachgoers islandwide.
