Ginny Purviance, Gary Fischer and Brenda Konopelko Ginny Purviance, Gary Fischer and Brenda Konopelko In what many consider to be the swan song soiree of the summer, the annual Redwood Library and Anthenaeum garden party held the week after Labor Day was a glorious day with good weather good cheer as nearly 200 guests chatted about their busy summer. Great hats were donned by both the ladies and gentlemen. Russell Morin Fine Catering provided traditional garden fare of tea sandwiches and fresh fruit. There may not have been a dance floor, but there was a lot of toe-tapping to the lively tunes provided by the local Honky Tonk Knights.

Redwood is not winding down just because summer is nearly over. A full slate of fall lectures is planned, while Shakespeare enthusiasts will continue to meet on Wednesdays. Read about Rip Irving's contribution to this weekly event on page 1. And, the coveted "elegant, non-scary" Halloween Party is scheduled for Oct. 30.
