Catching a Wave

A miss was as good as a hit for island surfers as remnants of Hurricane Bertha sped past the area, with winds pushing large swells towards our southern-facing beaches. Waves at Easton's Beach reached the sea wall at the west end, something that typically only happens when a hurricane strikes. Many took to the waves across the coastline, hoping to grab the perfect ride. Pictured: a surfer at Second Beach shredding the wave.
