A Parisian Evening at Island Moving Company's Evocative ‘Nuit Blanche’

Dancers dove into the pool for an aquatic ballet, an opera singer trilled in the pergolas, and New York's Tin Pan Band led 400 guests through the spectacular grounds of Ronald Lee Fleming’s Bellevue House, from performance to exciting performance. The magical trip evoked Paris’ legendary all-night arts festival.

Nuit Blanche's theme this year was “Opéra Garnier,” inspired by the Paris Opera House with its colorful Marc Chagall ceiling, featuring décor by artist/designer John Sawicki.

Newport’s resident contemporary ballet company invited musicians, singers, painters and other artists to join with them in short performances set among the allées, follies and ornamental pools of the gardens. The evening also included a live auction, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and dancing for all to music by New York's Tin Pan Band.

Ballroom dancers from Floor- Time studios graced the garden opera singer Youngchul Park sang, musician Taeyoung Lee played, and the Parisian duo On Est Gentils acted. Violinist John Bergin, mime Vlad Tenenbaum and musical duo La Merchante et le Connard performed for the crowd. Olympic bronze medalist figure skater Marissa Castelli from Cranston was a special guest.
