House Tour Well Received

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Parents Association of St. Michael’s Country Day School, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the community for the overwhelmingly positive response to the seven remarkable and diverse properties on the Neighborhoods of Newport House Tour on Sunday, April 27.

Now in its fourteenth year, this tour would not have been possible without the generosity and commitment of the homeowners in our community. We especially thank The Preservation Society of Newport County, Mark Horan, Susan Ruf, and Ronald Lee Fleming for opening and sharing their homes with the community. We also thank our special guest Designer Barclay Butera, and the Norman Bird Sanctuary for sharing their newly restored Paradise Farmhouse. We extend to all the homeowners our sincerest and deepest gratitude.

Once again, John Peixinho of Franklin & Company Design Associates returned as our Event Sponsor. We are deeply grateful to him for his continued generosity and unwavering commitment to our tour. We also thank all of the advertisers in the program for their support, especially Kirby Perkins Construction, Ron DiMauro Architects, Horan Building Company, Newport Lamp & Shade, and Parker Construction; and our partners Newport Life Magazine, The Clarke Cooke House, Granny Squibb’s Iced Teas, and Cathedral Printing.

This house tour could not have been possible without the support of a very large team of volunteers made up of St. Michael’s parents, teachers, staff and spouses. The money raised from house tours has contributed toward playground equipment, athletic uniforms and gear, computer devices, and improvements in the art and drama departments. We are especially pleased to be donating $3,500 this year to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in Newport.

Finally, we extend our heartiest thanks to everyone who attended the house tour. Please enjoy the knowledge that you have enhanced the lives of members of our community, and every single student at St. Michael’s Country Day School. Clare Craig & Roselle McConnell
