Dropping Anchor in Newport

The arrival of Holland America’s Maasdam on Tuesday, May 6, offered a preview of the upcoming cruise ship season, with guests touring, dining, and visiting attractions across the city. Although the schedule is not as robust as in previous years, with approximately 30 ships arriving at Perrotti Park, the season also includes the same number of smaller ships docking at Fort Adams. Well-known lines like Princess, Cunard, Crystal, and Norwegian will drop anchor multiple times, while Blount and American Cruise Lines will tie up alongside at the Fort. The ships at Fort Adams will arrive throughout the summer, but the vast majority of the larger vessels pull in after Labor Day.
