Daffodillion Update

Keep your eye out for that hardy harbinger of sunshine and warmth – the daffodil. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Daffodillion project, thousands of these happy faces of spring will soon dot the landscape all across our fair city. From the Pell Bridge to the Cliff Walk to the expanse off Easton’s Beach, the bulbs have begun to emerge and will shortly explode into bursts of yellow sunny enough to lift the heaviest heart.

Since 2007, over 250,000 bulbs have been planted in highly visible spaces, aided by the City of Newport, the Preservation Society of Newport County, the Newport Restoration Foundation, Salve Regina University, and private donors, with over 98,000 planted last October alone.
