Pop Culture Lives On with Andy Warhol ‘s Inspiration

Sarah Beatrice, Ellen Scobie, and Shellie Fiano. Sarah Beatrice, Ellen Scobie, and Shellie Fiano. NewportFILM ‘s third annual friend-raiser held earlier this month drew close to 300 guests to raise funds for year-round documentary film in Rhode Island.

The Warhol-themed event brought out the superstar in everyone who attended. A sea of Warhol look-a-likes and women dressed to kill took to the dance floor of “Studio 54” and mingled among both floors of Christie’s Restaurant.

In celebration of Earth Month, newportFILM and the Aquidneck Land Trust will present “Damnation,” an environmental documentary. This powerful film odyssey explores the change in our national attitude from pride in big dams as engineering wonders to the growing awareness that our own future is bound to the life and health of our rivers.

The film screening is Tuesday, April 15 at the Casino Theater at 6:30 p.m. The director Travis Rummel will lead a post-film conversation. To watch the trailer or RSVP for this free community event visit newportFILM.com
