Rhode Island Commissioner of Education Deborah Gist and Channel 10 anchor/reporter Patrice Wood presented Thompson Middle School Special Educator Ashley Considder with the Channel 10 Golden Apple Award on Monday, March 17. Thompson Principal Jaime Crowley gave the honoree a bouquet of flowers as Newport Superintendent Colleen Jermain applauded. Wood interviewed seventh-graders Jy-Tique Harris and Brian Neal; both had wonderful things to say about their teacher's expertise. Considder also received a $250 gift card from Hasbro for classroom supplies. Considder was nominated by a parent, who wrote a glowing letter of recommendation to the station. The segment will air April 3 on the 6 p.m. Channel 10 news.
