Fundraiser

A benefit supporting the Newport Housing Authority for Aquidneck Island Homeless will be held on Friday, March 28, 6-8 p.m. at Vasco da Gamma Hall, Fenner Ave. Tickets are $25 and include dinner and music by the Larry Brown Orchestra. Call the Middletown Senior Center at 401-849-8823 for tickets. All proceeds go directly to the Newport Housing Hotline.

‘L’Orgue Mystique’ Recital

Rich Spotts will perform excerpts from Charles Tournemire’s “L’Orgue Mystique” at St. Mary’s Church on Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m. This prayerful music was written in the early 20th century and is based on historic chants and hymns of the Roman Catholic Church. St. Mary’s is at Spring Street and Memorial Boulevard. A free will offering will be taken.

St. Lucy’s Spring Dance

St Lucy’s will hold a spring dance on Saturday, March 29 in the parish center, 909 West Main Rd., Middletown, from 6-11 p.m. The evening will begin with an American and Filippino dinner with traditional ethnic foods, and there will be entertainment, with dancing to the music of DJ Fogg Sound and a “heritage” dance performance. The cost is $25 adults, $10 for children ages 3-12, and free for those 2 and under. C.S. Lewis Series

St. John the Evangelist hosts “Through Lent with C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe” each Friday through April 4 at the Guild Hall, 61 Poplar St. The evening begins with a meal at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 401-848-2561.

Parish Penitential Service

The Parish Penitential Service will be held at St. Augustin’s Church on Monday, March 31 at 7 p.m. Several priests will be available for individual confessions.

Lenten Mission at St. Lucy’s

St. Lucy’s will offer a Lenten mission program on “Forgiveness: God’s Endless Mercy at Work” Monday Wednesday, March 24-26. The series will be led by Fr. Cyriac Mattathilanickal, director of La Salette Retreat Center in Attleboro, Mass. Morning and evening sessions will be offered, after the 9 a.m. Mass and at 7 p.m. The presentations will last for an hour with the celebration of the Eucharist on the evening of the last day of the mission. ‘Graceful Exit’ Planning

Channing Church will hold a series of four workshops on “Preparing for a Graceful Exit: Conversations Around End-of-Life and Death Issues” beginning Tuesday, March 25 and continuing each Tuesday through April 15. The program is being run by Joy Benson and Rev. Lark d’Helen. The meetings will begin at 7 p.m. in the parish hall at 135 Pelham St.

Whether you are in your 40s, 60s or 80s, it is time to map out a plan for communicating your medical wishes, preparing advance directives, arranging legal matters, and exploring options for end-of-life care and funeral and burial choices.
