Irish Heritage Month Kick-Off

nGuided tours of Fort Adams begin Saturday, March 1 and will run
daily all month. The one-hour tours
will be offered at noon and 2 p.m.,
weather permitting. The historic
fort was built by Irish laborers between 1824-1857. Admission is $12
for adults and $6 for children (Mention Irish Heritage Month for $2 discounts). For more information, call

nTrolley Tour of “Irish Newport” will
be given Saturday, March 1 at 10
a.m. The tour departs from Hibernian Hall, coffee and Danish provided at 9:30 a.m. The bus returns
approximately at noon. Sites of Irish
interest include Forty Steps, Ochre
Court, Barney St. Cemetery and Museum of Newport Irish History Interpretive Center. Free, but donations
accepted. Space is limited. Reservations required. Sponsored by Viking

nAn Inaugural Irish Quiz Night
will be held Saturday, March 1 at 7
p.m. at Hibernian Hall. Teams from
local Irish organizations will compete to win the “Newport Irish Heritage Cup.” Public invited, free, cash
