(Photo by Jonathan Clancy) The Middletown High School boys basketball team, undefeated this season in Division III-East, found themselves in an uncomfortable place on Tuesday, Jan. 28: down by 7 points to visiting Burrillville High School at halftime. The Islanders snapped out of their doldrums soon thereafter, knotting the game 31-31 at the 11:28 mark of half number two, then zooming to a 50-34 advantage over the Broncos with just over four minutes to play to cement their ultimate victory. Middletown’s J.D. Bailey led all scorers with 19 points while collecting a game-high 17 rebounds. With the win the Islanders improved their D. III-East-leading record to 7-0 (10-1 overall). The Islanders will next play Moses Brown at home on Thursday, Jan. 30 and will face North Smithfield on Friday, Jan. 31. Both games have 7 p.m. tip offs.
