Bishop on Star of Bethlehem

The English Speaking Union invites members and guests to hear the Rt. Rev. W. Nicholas Knisely, Episcopal Bishop of R.I., speak about “The Star of Bethlehem” on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Officers’ Club on the Newport Naval Station. Retreat on the Priesthood

Bishop Tobin invites high school seniors, college, and post-college aged men who are discerning a call to the priesthood to a retreat on the priesthood at the Seminary of Our Lady of Providence on Jan. 10- 11 from 7 p.m. on Friday to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Christmas on Historic Hill

Trinity Church will offer “Christmas on Historic Hill: A Service of Lessons and Carols” on Sunday, Dec. 29 at One Queen Anne Sq., 4 p.m. The candlelight service will feature the choir and clergy of Trinity Church and voices from the community and will introduce the Newport Community Youth Choir. New Year’s Eve Service

Community Baptist Church will hold a special New Year’s Eve service on Dec. 31 from 10 p.m. until midnight. All are welcome to ring in the new year with Community Baptist at 50 Dr. Marcus F. Wheatland Blvd. For more information, call 401-847-1707.

Trinity Adult Forum

Trinity Church will continue with its Adult Forum series on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 9 a.m. in Honyman Hall. Rev. Paul Koumrian will present “The Twelfth Day of Christmas – Epiphany,” discussing the Feast of Epiphany, which celebrates the visit of the Magi and the revelation of Jesus as the Son of God. Men’s Bible Study

The Men’s Bible Study Group of Trinity Church will start its study of Genesis on Jan. 7. The group meets at 7:30 a.m. at Seamen’s Church Institute on Tuesdays and welcomes any men who would like to join in collegial and participatory study. Warm Up Wednesdays to Resume in January
