newportFILM Reels into Fall

Photos by Jonathan Clancy

September’s finale of newportFILM’s illustrious 2013 outdoor film series, presented by Kirby Perkins Construction, featured a screening of the short documentary “Diner En Blanc” last month at the Norman Bird Sanctuary. Film fans from all over Rhode Island came dressed head-to-toe in white to support the documentary’s theme – Paris’ enigmatic 25-year running of secret pop-up white dinner parties of 10,000+ that have since spread to metropolitan cities around the globe.

Before the film, guests enjoyed a pre-party in Mabel’s Garden with wine courtesy of Jonathan Edwards Winery and hors d’oeuvres from Tallulah on Thames and Le Petit Gourmet. Brother sister duo Honey Hollow provided acoustic bluegrass music and partygoers took guided tours of the Paradise Farmhouse renovation.

The sun set on a sea of white as 300+ enjoyed the 40-minute doc on the Paradise Farmhouse Field. Jennifer Ash Rudick, the film’s director, answered questions from the audience after the film. newportFILM has no plans of slowing down this fall and winter; check their upcoming film schedule at newportFILM.com.
