Wildlife Photo Contest Winners Announced


First place winner: Green Heron Concentration by Pat Miller. First place winner: Green Heron Concentration by Pat Miller. The Friends of the National Wildlife Refuges of Rhode Island have selected winners for its 13th annual amateur photo competition.

Victoria Lima, of Westerly, was awarded “Best in Show” for her photo titled “The Mighty Plover,” while Pam Marsden of Bristol was awarded second place in the Refuge Flora category with her entry “Sunnyside,” second place in the Refuge Wildlife category for “Refuge Spirit,” and first place in the Wildlife Habitat/ Landscape category for her entry “Enchanted Sunrise at Sachuest.”

In the children’s category, Thomas Lowe Jr. of Middletown was awarded second place for his “Lone Tree,” and Taylor Foley, also of Middletown, was awarded third place for “Aquidneck Pink Passion.” (See photo on pg. 24). All of these award-winning photos were taken at Sachuest Point.
