Sergei S. Sikorsky, 61, formerly of Newport, passed away Feb. 7, 2017, while restoring his newly purchased boat in Deltaville, Virginia. His unexpected death has been deemed an accidental drowning. He was preceded in death by his mother, Tanya, and his daughter, Valerie. He is survived by his father, Sergei Sikorsky Sr., and several uncles and cousins. Born in Bridgeport, Conn. on March 3, 1955, he spent most of his childhood in Munich, Germany. In 1973, he traveled to Monaco and was hired aboard a yacht as an apprentice deck hand. He steadily worked his way up the chain of command on various charter yachts, primarily in the Mediterranean Sea. He eventually began to command charter boats and larger yachts on deliveries throughout European, American and Caribbean waters. A longtime resident of Newport, he was involved in a number of local exhibitions and projects, even opening a restaurant, in addition to his maritime activities. The family will hold a private funeral in Connecticut at a later date. A celebration of his life will be held this summer in Newport for all his friends and fellow sailors and artists to share their remembrances and stories.

Thomas J. Sears, 62, of Pawtucket, formerly of Newport, passed away unexpectedly at Memorial Hospital on Feb. 7, 2017 after a brief illness.
Scott E. Vidinha, 52, of Middletown, passed away Feb. 13, 2017. He was the husband of Sharon M. Keeley. He was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service with 20 years of service. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
